Sudan, Belarus discuss ways to boost military cooperation

May 24, 2007 (MINSK) — Minister of National Defence Eng Gen Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein and the Belarusian defense minister Col-Gen Leanid Maltsaw discussed ways of boosting cooperation between the two armies in terms of training, structure, and military and academic studies.

Hussein and a delegation from the Ministry of Defense participation in the opening ceremony of the Milex 2007 arms show of military industries in Belarus, attended by ministers of defense and army commanders of a number of countries, to learn about the latest developments in military technology.

“Delegations from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Sudan will be headed by their respective defence ministers,” an official said. The show will also be attended by the UAE chief of the General Staff, the Armenian deputy defence minister and military delegations from Ukraine, Syria, and Venezuela.

The Sudanese minister of national defense is currently visiting Belarus at the invitation of the Belarus defense minister, who accepted an invitation from the Ministry of Defense to visit Sudan. The date of the visit will be determined later.
