By Isaac Vuni

May 27, 2007 (JUBA) — The Archbishop of Juba has urged Sudanese Christian to meditate lessons given by Jesus Christ. He invited them to embrace the sprit of love and fraternity and to avoid tribalism and politicking.

The Catholic Archbishop of Juba, His Grace Paulino Lokudu said that there are lessons for Sudanese Christians to learn by renewing their life with Jesus Christ, the price of world peace. Adding that politicking alone without respecting people would not do much to solve the current political crisis in the Sudan.

Speaking during commemoration of the feast of Pentecost held at St. Theresa Cathedral Kator, Juba, today, the prelate said Sudanese, especially from southern Sudan should refrain from tribalism and instead to embrace the spirit of togetherness by respecting individuals and different citizens in the South, West and East of the Sudan while the southern elites are converging in main towns of Juba the capital of the Southern Sudan, Malakal and Wau.

The following are Recommendations derived from the two days workshop organized by National Justice and Peace Commission of the catholic Bishops conference held at Catholic Relief service premises in Juba on national, census and election:

Government must create Stability in southern Sudan for achieving better result of the national census in southern Sudan.

South Sudanese churches should participate actively in Civic education and dissemination of the CPA documents to empower grassroots people as government is failing to reach cross section of southern Sudanese.

Government should ensure adequate security for the people of South Sudan especially during the national census campaign.

Church committee must be formed and co-opted into existing government census committee to monitor the problems of Census, elections and referendum.
