UK peace envoy arrives in Sudan to discuss peace process, conflict in west

KHARTOUM, Jan 13, 2004 — The British peace envoy to Sudan, Alan Goulty, will arrive in Sudan today from Nairobi, on a four-day visit.
During his visit, the envoy will meet high-ranking government officials and some political forces.
Sources told Al-Sahafah that Goulty’s visit would focus on the peace talks which are currently taking place in the Kenyan town of Naivasha .
The Sudanese peace rapporteur, under whose umbrella several political parties are grouped, revealed that the meeting between Goulty and the political forces, would tackle the events in Darfur [ western Sudan] as well as the British envoy’s role in the peace process.
