Sudan military release last batch of detained political leaders

November 30, 2021 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese authorities on Tuesday released the last batch of political leaders detained after the coup d’etat of October 2021.

Ibrahim al-Sheikh former Industry Minister, Taj al-Din Ismail of the Sudanese Professional Association (SPA) were released on bail on Tuesday.

They had been released and then immediately rearrested on Sunday. They are accused of inciting the army to rebel against its leadership.

A member of the defence team, Iqbal Ali, told the Sudan Tribune that remaining detainees have been released on bail.

Former Sovereign Council member Mohamed al-Faki, Spokesman of the Forces for Freedom and Change, Gaafar Hassan, and Member of the Empowerment Dismantling Committee Wajdi Saleh were freed on Monday under the same conditions.

According to the political agreement of November 21, al-Burhan committed himself to release all the political detainees.

The deal between the Chair of the Sovereign Minister and the Prime Minister evicted the FFC from the political scene as the ruling coalition.
