Arman resigns from Hamdok’s office

December 12, 2021 (KHARTOUM) – Yasir Arman the Deputy-Chairman of the SPLM-N led by Malik Agar resigned from his position as Political Adviser to Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok.

Arman had been among the political leaders arrested on October 25, by the coup leaders. He was released on November 22, 2021, a day after the political agreement between Hamdok and the Commander in chief of the Sudanese army Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.

In a written leader dated on December 11, Arman resigned from his position five months after appointment in July 2021.

According to the letter, he said he decided to submit a written resignation because the prime minister did not call him for a meeting since his release.

“After my recent release from prison on November 22, 2021, I was expecting that you would invite me for a last meeting so that I could submit my resignation to you directly,” he said.

He said such a meeting would have allowed them to discuss the divergences between them before and after the coup d’état.

According to several sources, Hamdok was bothered by the confrontational approach of the FFC leaders with the military leaders.

While Arman was one of the leading members of the open criticism for the obstruction of the military leaders and the slow implementation of the security arrangements and power rotation at the level of the Sovereign Council.

Faisal Mohamed Salih Hamdok media adviser and former information minister resigned last week. He says he disapproves the agreement that his boss signed with al-Burhan.

Observers in Khartoum agree that the prime minister would not be able to implement the remaining agenda of the transition without a political consensus in Sudan.

The 21st of November agreement provides to allow the political forces that were allied to the al-Bashir regime to participate in the transition. However, the Forces for Freedom and Change reject this participation.
