Chadian president to visit Sudan next Monday

June 20, 2007 (KHARTOUM) — Chadian President Idriss Deby Itno will arrive in Khartoum next Monday June 25. His visit will be preceded on Saturday by a high-level delegation that includes the ministers of foreign affairs, defense, interior, and national infrastructure, as well as senior advisers and ambassadors at the Chadian Foreign Ministry, on a three-day visit to the country.

Talks between the two sides, led by Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir and Idriss Deby Itno of Chad, will focus on ways of implementing the agreements reached in Tripoli and Riyadh between the two countries, especially security arrangements along the common border, the official SUNA reported.

Sudanese Ambassador to Chad, Abdallah al-Sheikh said that the visit comes at a time when bilateral relations are at a state of complete normalization and steady development, which will have repercussions on the stability of the situation in Darfur.

He added that the developments on the scene now, beginning with the agreement by the government, the UN, and the AU in Addis Ababa, and the subsequent visit by the UN Security Council delegation to Khartoum, are all indicators that will contribute to peace and stability in the Darfur region and improve conditions and relations with neighbouring countries.
