SPLM vision and Sudan’s Ambassador to US
By J. Bilkuei
June 20, 2007 — The people of Southern Sudan, the SPLM and the moderate members of the National Congress Party, formerly known as the National Islamic Front (NIF) should not kept quiet while damages are made by John Ukec Lueth Ukec to Sudan in general. John Ukec Lueth Ukec has been repeatedly been lying to the world about his credentials, his Military Service, Darfur and the problem of Sudan.
First, it is shame on the SPLM leadership of putting a person with no clear integrity to a constitutional post to represent them in one of the world’s super power, the United States of America. John Ukec Lueth Ukec’s conflicting knowledge of the Sudan’s problem could not allow him to be chosen as an Ambassador to represent Sudan. John Ukec’s lies about himself and the Sudan beyond his political immaturity.
John Ukec Lueth Ukec, defined as “Khartoum Karl,” by the Washington Post this month had not fought in the Sudan’s war for fifty (50) years as he claimed. He came to the United States in 1981, the SPLM/A war broke out in 1983, of which John was here before it started. John Ukec Lueth Ukec was residing in Iowa when he came in 1981; he received a Master Degree in Political Science in 1983. John Ukec was assisted by the late Chairman, Dr. John Garang De Mabior to get into Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. To proof him wrong that he had not fought for 50 years, the Sudan got her independent in 1956, by the time when Anya nya mutiny occurred in Torit was 1955. John left Sudan in 1981, and lives in the United States till now. It was only 26 years between Torit uprising in 1955 and the 1983 when the war erupted again after 1972 Peace Agreement signed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. What 50 years John Ukec has been talking about?
The author of this article is trying to shed light on lies spreads to the world and the people of Sudan by John Ukec Lueth Ukec. Below is the analysis of how this author came to the conclusion that John Ukec is a liar, other than a diplomat. John Ukec is a really liar in the history of Sudan.
Lying about his Credentials:
John Ukec Lueth Ukec, in October 2006 met the community in Washington, D.C; he was introduced by the Deputy Head of Mission of the Sudan Embassy in America Mr. Salah Ahmed Elguneid, as Dr. John Ukec Lueth Ukec. Ukec accepted to be called Dr. John Ukec Lueth Ukec as if he has a Ph.D or a medical degree. John Ukec has none of the two distinctions that can qualify him to be called Dr. John Ukec. In reality, he should be called Mr. John Ukec Lueth Ukec. What is wrong with Mister (Mr.)? John framed to be called Dr. as way of convincing Bashir that he could be the one that should represent Sudan in Washington.
John Ukec has also lie about his teaching background, telling people that he was a professor at Iowa State University and a financial aid director at the same University. John had never filled any of the two positions. My research indicated that he was just a Financial Counselor at Iowa State University.
Lying about his Military Service:
Mr. John Ukec Lueth Ukec was interview by the Voice of Americas (VOA) in March 2007 by Dr. Chaka Sala with GOSS Head of Mission Ezekiel Gatkuoth. John was repeatedly called himself General. The question to be asked is who promoted him into the rank of General? He left Sudan in 1981, lives in the United States for 24 years; he has not gone back into the army. He was a Brigadier when he left, the question should be that, can John be promoted without going back to the army into a rank of General?
John Ukec Lueth Ukec’s knowledge of diplomacy is questionable:
Diplomacy 101 stated that, you cannot interfere with internal affairs of the host country. Does he know that when he attacked the Democratic Party of the U.S Congress and President Bush of failing in Iraq that it is a diplomatic immaturity, if not, a first degree diplomatic blunder?
I thought he was brought to create harmonious relations with government of the United States. Is John Ukec Lueth Ukec an Islamic Extremist? That to me is an insult to the government of the Southern Sudan and its people for even recommended such an incapable person to NIF or Bashir to be brought to the United States. Was he drunk during the Press Conference or he was blackmailed by the National Congress Party and Dr. Lam Akol?
John Ukec Lueth Ukec’s Conflicting Views on the Sudanese Problem:
John Ukec had been an instrumental advocate for the people of the Sudan. In fall of 2002, Ukec was describing the situation in Sudan as terrorizing and Sudan as the most tragic place in the world. He went as far as saying two million people died and 4.5 million have been uprooted from their homes, Iowa State Visions stated.
In September 2004, Iowa State Daily Columnist quoted John Ukec Lueth Ukec, he was saying the situation in Darfur is genocide. He was accusing Iowa State University and the world that they allow Sudan to commit human rights violations and mass killings without being made accountable; he was meaning Bashir’s regime that he is now an Ambassador. He was saying the world ignored “Genocide in Sudan in the last 20 years.”
In the Press Conference with National Press Club (NPC) in Washington, D.C in June 2007, John Ukec Lueth Ukec termed the problem of the Darfur as farmers fighting livestock herders that it is not genocide and stated in the same Press Conference that the Darfur rebels, who refused to sign the peace agreement with government in May 2006, are terrorists. Was he a terrorist when he was in the bush? If you compare what he had been saying about the problem of Darfur in 2004, you would automatically notice the contradiction within his own self. John Ukec stated at the same Press Conference that, “why Southern Sudan is not sanction and its part of Sudan?” That also bring question of his identity in line, is he really a Southern Sudanese?
In conclusion, John Ukec’s personal integrity is questionable. The people of Sudan need to track down liars like him so that they are in the record for future references. History never died, these people (liars) will be notice as we lives further. The SPLM needs to take the following steps to remove him from Washington before he seriously ruin the relations with the U.S government. The SPLM need to reevaluate John Ukec’s performance in Washington, take a decision to replace him with somebody who is qualify, and who cannot be bribed by the NCP, Let that person be loyal to the SPLM principles and vision of transforming Sudan into a democratic nation, and that should happen immediately before the U.S government decide to expel him.
