Prisoners clashes in Lakes State Correctional Prisons

June 25, 2007 (RUMBEK) — Yesterday the Prisoners of Lakes State and Warrap State in Lakes State Correctional Prisons have clashed yesterday and destroyed properties at the Correctional Prisons of the Lakes in unknown protest on Saturday June 23.

Daniel_Awet_Akot1.jpgThe Prisoners blocked the Prisons gate inside for the same cause. The prison officer Luis told the Sudan Tribune that the prisoners destroyed properties in side prison and among them got injury while they were throwing themselves with stone in side prisons.

“After the Prisoners riot we went out and made a quick development of prisons soldiers around the correctional prisoner incase of prisoners to escape out inside the person, and we were about to use emergency law but it could not happen because situation within prison got improve free from violate.

With that violence happened in Rumbek Correctional Prison yesterday, the Governor of Lakes State H.E. Lt. Gen Daniel Awet Akot was on his security briefings in Pacong Payam 12 miles away from Rumbek” where Clan clashes also alarm at high risk in Rumbek East for assassination that had occur out last week nigh ago in side Rumbek town.

In a result to that assassination, one Man was shot dead by unknown gunmen who came to a house and call him outside and open gunfire on him in middle nigh. With that group who carry out assassination was descript, that they came in house wearing military uniform and after the action of their assassination, they all had led nowhere to be seem and disappear in Lakes, but SPLA security forces are trying to bring them back to face justice.

Lakes State Governor is working hard to improve insecurity in Lakes State but Rumbek citizens like violent always because more cases in Rumbek backbone results on revenged and citizens claimed that many cases are pending on Court and no trial done sooner by Court.

“A historical day that we thought may never come during Cultural Week Heritage held in Rumbek last year on 26 December, Lakes State Governor Daniel Awet had spoke out on how insecurity could be controlled in lakes which just based on four stages” Akot said”:

1- Law and Order: in this stage we are imposing disarmament and arresting culprits to face charges and investigations.

2- Application of Justice: in this stage the criminals and all accused persons must face justice in fair trials in the courts of law.

3- Public Reconciliations: in this stage the state Government will involve churches, leaders of the communities and all stakeholders in process of healing and harmony.

4- Sustainability of Peace through Development: in this stage we will encourage both public and private sectors in the development of our state; which will in turn provide the employment to our people and hence keep them out of the troubles.

All above had been violated by Lakes State citizens reporter descript that situation in Lakes State” all Rumbek street now are under control of SPLA Brig. Bol Akot Bol and serious curfew was placed on Rumbek citizens started at 7:00Pm to 7:00Am no movement according to Lakes State Governor and those people who try to violate this curfew are facing terrible fine of 15 launches and 75 pound to paid to a court otherwise no joke.
