Sudanese President lauds private sector for creating investment atmosphere

KHARTOUM, Jan 15, 2004 (SUNA) — President of the Republic [Lt]-Gen Umar al- Bashir praised the distinguished role being played by the Sudanese private sector in pushing forward the Sudanese economy.

This came when the president met here Wednesday businessmen. The President affirmed the government’s concern with the private sector and will go ahead in adopting liberalization policies that enable the private sector do its national task, explaining that the government’s steps in the domain of peace and stability created a positive atmosphere convenient for investment and economy.

In this connection, the president affirmed that the current influx of foreign investment companies to Sudan requires preparing the national private sector to activate the contribution of the private sector in the progress of the national economy and achievement of development in Sudan.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Federation of the Sudanese Business and Employers Unions, Ezaldin al- Sayyed, appreciated the initiative of the president to enlighten the businessmen with the current developments in the country, reviewing the march of the Businessmen Federation as well as their contributions to the national economy.

Al-Sayyed hailed the two parties at the peace negotiations in Naivasha, Kenya, saying the federation follows up closely the progress of the negotiations and expressed readiness to assume their role in development and construction.
