Sudanese president names SPLM’s Agar as governor of Blue Nile
July 1, 2007 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese president Omer al-Bashir has appointed today the former minister of Investment Malik Agar as governor of Blue Nile State.
In an expected move president al-Bashir named the SPLM official governor of Blue Nile state. His appointment comes in implementation of the principle of rotation as it is provided in the peace deal signed between the Sudanese government and the SPLM in 2005.
Al-Bshir also issued another presidential decree removing Agar from his ministerial post.
Malik Agar, has taken over leadership of the SPLM’s northern sector since March 2007.
He expressed since long time his desire to move from the ministry of investment. Normally, the SPLM should propose another name to replace at this ministry.
