Sudanese peace talks to continue after Id al-Adha festival

KHARTOUM, Jan 19, 2004 — A member of the government negotiating team at the peace talks between the government and the [Sudan People’s Liberation] Movement in Naivasha [Kenya], Dr Amin Hasan Umar, has said the negotiations will extend to another round after the Id al-Adha [Muslim feast scheduled for either 1 or 2 February] holy days.
He said the dossiers on the three [disputed] regions will remain the centre of discussion, adding that progress had been realized on the issue of the Nuba Mountains and [Eastern] Blue Nile areas.
Regarding power sharing, he said the matter will be discussed in the next round of talks.
