Sudan commends positive results of Tripoli meeting on Darfur

July 16, 2007 (TRIPOLI) — The minister of state for foreign affairs, Al-Samani al-Wasilah, who is the head of Sudanese government delegation to the second international conference on Darfur, has commended the positive results and the spirit of goodwill at the conference.

Al-Wasila said the conference, whose aim was to seek ways of bringing peace to Darfur region, was constructive, serious and frank. “I feel obliged to thank this effort and we must continue to maintain this spirit of responsibility,” Al-Wasilah said.

The state minister further said “We are now at an important and developed stage which will bring about benefits for not only Sudan and its neighbors, but for the continent.”

He stressed Sudan’s determination to continue on this path, the official SUNA reported.
