The deputy chairman of the ruling National Congress Party [NC], Dr Nafi Ali Nafi, has disclosed that weapons have made their way into the capital [Khartoum] but added the security services have not yet reached these weapons.
He added that the [case] of the group whose political leaders, military commander and coordinator were arrested, was not a political case, saying the case would be dealt with through the courts and settled in accordance with the law.
Dr Nafi expressed astonishment at the behaviour of the group headed by the Ummah party for Renewal Reformation, saying it was an indication elections were around the corner. He praised the authorities for being alert, for keeping tabs on the attempt since March, and for ultimately foiling it.
Meanwhile, the first vice-president and president of the government of South Sudan, the leader of the SPLM, Lt-Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit, has made a telephone call to the meeting of the political office of the National Congress party [NC] headed by President of the Republic Field Marshal Al-Bashir, condemning the abortive subversive attempt and the behaviour.
