Nur terms Tripoli talks “conspiracy” against Darfur people
The leader of the [rebel] Sudan Liberation Movement [SLM] Abd-al-Wahid Muhammad Ahmed al-Nur has said that the people of Darfur, who previously defeated the Abuja agreement, are capable, even at a distance, of defeating what he called the ‘Tripoli negotiations conspiracy’ [next round of peace talks].
Nur told Al-Ayyam from Paris “We tell Al-Bashir that rights are seized and not given”.
These rights are not being granted by Al-Bashir or anybody else but are the rights of the people of Darfur.” “Nothing on this earth can prevent the people of Darfur from claiming their rights,” he stressed.
Nur further reiterated that the people of Darfur are capable of defeating the ‘Tripoli conspiracy’ and all those who conspire against them. “If ever a nation seeks to live, then night must give way to dawn and chains must be broken,” he said. “Negotiations should begin after the Security Council resolutions are implemented.
Only then should all sides sit together to determine the place and time for talks through a mediator” he emphasized.

The [rebel] Sudan Liberation Movement [SLM] headed by Abd-al-Wahid Muhammad Ahmad Al-Nur has officially declined to participate in the meeting being arranged by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement [SPLM] in Juba to gather all Darfur holdout groups.
The meeting is part of the initiative proposed by the first vice-president of the republic, and the president of the Government of Southern Sudan, Lt-Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit, to resolve the Darfur issue.
The SLM’s official spokesman, Yahya Khalil Bolad, said that Nur had declined the invitation to participate in the Juba meeting, although he welcomed the invitation in view of the strategic relationship between his movement and the SPLM.
He justified his refusal by saying that it is not the right time for such meetings, “Our position is firm and our message is clear, there is no use for any meeting now before hybrid forces are deployed, militias are disarmed and the new settlers are expelled from places belonging to our people in Darfur,” Bolad told Al-Ra’y al-Amm.
