South Sudan may reinvestigate Garang death

September 15, 2007 (JUBA) — The Government of South Sudan (GoSS) has announced that it may consider fresh inquiries into the death of its founder president John Garang, Kampala based the Monitor reported.

The announce follows growing agitation by many Sudanese that the former SPLA/M leader could have been assassinated.

The spokesperson of South Sudan government, Samson Kwaje, said although that GoSS believed in the official account of the Khartoum-sanctioned commission of inquiry which said Garang died in a chopper crash caused by “bad weather and human (pilot) error”, the inquest is still open.

“That does not prevent further investigations,” he said in an interview at his office on Wednesday. Garang is (was) a giant in our politics and there will (continue to) be a lot of speculation (about his death). We are not going to say that (findings of the official commission) was the final report and believe that those who have more information can come out.”

Madame Rebecca Nyandeng, the widow of the fallen SPLM chairman, recently caused a stir in the Kenyan capital Nairobi when she said she knew her late husband was “assassinated”.

On August 14, the Sudanese State Minister for Interior, Aleu Ayeny Aleu (who has since been sacked), claimed in an interview with local Arab-language Akhbar Aloum daily newspaper that Garang’s July 31, 2005 death was an arranged murder plot and not an accident.

While the Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni, was the first high profile leader to suggest that the chopper that carried Garang could have smashed due to other “external factors”., the Monitor said.

Responding to a question as to whether the emerging allegations were an indictment of Uganda’s complicity, Kwaje said they were just speculation associated with demise of prominent officials.

“If there is overwhelming evidence that those reasons given by the official (probe) report is not satisfactory, then it (new inquest) will be done. For example, if Rebecca Nyandeng comes up with her reasons and they are strong, it (new investigations) can be opened through a different commission,” Kwaje said.

GoSS spokesperson spoke of the warm diplomatic relations between Uganda and Southern Sudan government, the vast trade and investment opportunities in the area as well as tribulations of Ugandan traders in Juba city and the correctional measures undertaken.

South Sudan may reinvestigate Garang death
    Dear all
I broke tears when I read your new suggestions on to whether there will be new commission that will restart a new investigation about the death of our beloved leader Dr John Garang de Mabior.
My question is would the commission involve keen people?
I means closers relatives and friends.
Their involvement will make us more satisfy rather than other closers in politics.
I rather have his name on his good things than Joking on his name for rubbish. please (commission)provide us with final and accurate results if the commisson is to be formed again.
    Thanks

We Southerners welcome very much the formation of the fresh board of inquiries to reinvestigate the Ugandan assesination of Sudan’s hero.
As a matter of facts nearly half of Sudanese population have enough evidence regarding Garang’s death or assesination. But how can they reveal these evidence when the Government threatens them. The Rebecca Garang’s press release in Kenya and the former Interior minister Aleu Ayeny news at ‘Akbhar el yom’ should have not sparked the motions of GOSS against the individuals. Based on their positions they were used to express the Southerners voice. Of course after the declaration that Garang died in an accident due to bad weather and mechanical fault of the plan, every other blind Sudanese were doomed. Now if the government,GOSS reconsider the ideas of Nyandeng and Aleu then why not given back their positions in the government. They have continuously gathered more and more. They will help a great deal if given the freedom. They should also be part of the board. If the GoSS can recognize this call then evidence for the killing are available at all sources even the Sudanese students who studied before or during that time in Uganda can tell exactly what happened.
What we emphasize is that GoSS should encourage those who have evidence about the event including children at all corners to join the board, but threatening the citizens like the experience of Aleu and Rebecca cannot help at all. When we see these series of backfiring, it suggests that some individuals in the GOSS want this matter to be concealed. If it’s a matter of protecting relationship with the neighbor and for reasons to implement CPA first, then only advices are necesaary than kicking-off the citizens.

Let’s form the board of inquiries before the contamination of the scenario.

I don’t understand the political reasons behind this phenomenon. Why can’t they (GoSS) just tell us the truth about our beloved and the always role-module DR John Garang. How in the world such an incident could happen, he only had been as Vice President for 21 days. I still fell like dreaming and waiting for the leader of the house to come and wake me up and tell me what I had miss during the long time of sleeping.

It is truly been long long time since the Dr death, are we just to wait and thing the time will make us forget? Let me tell you (Southern Sudanese leaders and nation) that Dr death will remains in our minds and hearts, it will remain a figure that is unforgettable. He done several goods for people he loved, it is time to give him the ownership by finding and telling the truth to the people he loved. The GoSS is having this role to define this matter and as a nation we will follow them.

South Sudan may reinvestigate Garang death
By Manyok Mabiei/son of South-Sudan in exile, Chicago, IL, U.S & he can at http://www.madingbor.com

Garang death need more investigation to all people of Sudan and hand care of our President of Southern Sudan, the SPLM leadership, and all the Sudanese people for the untimely passing away of our late hero and leader, Dr. John Garang. Death being what it is, has robbed us of our dear son and “key holder” of SPLA/M. The sudden death of Dr. John Garang is a loss of immense, not only to the southerners, but also to entirely allies of Sudanese around the globe.
John Garang was a man whose life was dedicate to liberating the marginalized peoples of the Sudan. In addition, his job is total freedom and dignity of the marginalized masses of the Sudanese that was realizes, when he signed the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) as he knew to die. But he died prematurely, after he delivered the car to its final destination, so, he left the southerners; all the marginalized allies, proud and honorable peoples of South-Sudan with true history of next generations that will be accountable and follows forever!

As for the first time, our right is identify has been recognized, as clearly spilt out in the CPA, by him has done his work and no words of mouth, ever left out of his sensible, before he gone. We all know, even if, Garang is gone, the mission he implemented it will not be destroyed or demolish. On behalf, of our brothers and sisters in the SPLM/A, whose commitments to our cause of freedom, emphasis, will still carry without doubt of hope or doubt of minds. The “Young Sudanese Politicians” need to carry out another investigation of Late John Garang death from beginning John Garang stepped to Khartoum Capital of Sudan in 07/8/05 on Thursday and until he ended up the Peace Agreement with Omar Al-Bashir on Friday 07/09/05. And he was stayed in Khartoum for while, when he ended up “Peace Agreement” on Friday 07/09/05 up to 07/25/05 and back to South-Sudan in 07/25/05 to Rumbek City of South.

From there, Garang spent 4 days in Rumbek between these days of month 07/25/05 and up to 07/28/05. Next day, Friday/29/05 Garang, left Rumbek City for unknown journey toward Uganda on Friday 07/29/05 around evening time. Garang was trip to Uganda to meet with his friend Uganda Yoweri with his only five bodyguards. Nevertheless, there was “no” one of his top rank of SPLA/M on that journey to Uganda to know what was a meeting talk about? However, Garang was recently a sworn, as a first Vice-President of Republic of Sudan in Khartoum for about two weeks and half he spent in the position, before he died. Therefore, we need to know what cause of matters behind the wheel of journey without official of the SPLA/M to join the journey of trip.

So, the Garang death in Ugandans helicopter from “Entebbe International Airport” on his way to South-Sudan, after he met with Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni at his country home in Mbarara, western Uganda in this July 30, 2005. That is unrighteousness to keep silently without repeat in every now and than. On the other level, Saturday 07/30/05 morning at 8 am in U.S. A. time through the medias report John Garang, who signed a Peace deal within July/09/05 year that end off Africa’s longest civil war, died in a helicopter crash, before, even BBC reported, then everyone know that late John was planning death. All Medias reported that Mr. Garang missing with 13 peoples that including him in one plane However, there was not quickly response from Khartoum regime and SPLA/M, where, their leader landed down?

However, BBC reported and asked Khartoum Government, where John Garang and Khartoum said we don’t know Garang routes where he travel” he was just left to South-Sudan recently about a week from now, it is according to Khartoum reported with no much clues. After 8 hours gone over, BBC reported evening time John Garang, who was signing the CPA, killed in helicopter crash Sudan’s former rebel leader, who is a Vice-President in Khartoum with crew members, as he boards an Uganda helicopter from an Entebbe International Airport on his way to his home-Sudan. After, he met Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni at his country hometown in Mbarara, Western Uganda in July 29, 2005 Friday. But Heroic Garang, who signed a deal end Africa’s longest civil war, died in a helicopter crash in southern Sudan, officials rash in southern Sudan, officials confirmed on August 1, 2005 lately.

As we all know, John Garang who started the Movement of the “SPLA/M” no one knew the routes he traveling, either main enemy or close ally foes in South-Sudan. However, after, the Hero stepped to Khartoum Capital of North Sudan on Thursday 07/08/05 the globally know about him and all enemies knew where Garang heading to in every hours. Garang, since he defected away in a dictatorship regime rule, he never stepped to Khartoum City for more than twenty-two years. After he agreed to signed a Peace Agreement, then all the peoples from Sudan, start from Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern learn where John moving at the time. Besides, that he reached to Khartoum City more than 4 millions of Southerners, Northerners, Westerners and Easterners turning over and supports him for “freedom of right” to ring in every corners of the country. He said to everyone who needs to vote a freedom of right do so, whoever, needs to run for president in Sudan you have right do so……
When, Garang delivered the speech and said Sudan will not be same again! Therefore, everyone turn around and support the SPA/M Party. Moreover, he said again, who supported Mr. Omar in his leadership? Omar was having high breathing called so- sick at that periods and he tried to work hard in way to eliminate Mr. John Garang, because he knew he would defeat him, if Garang spent more than a month or year, it might be another revolutionaries. Mr. Omar Al-Bashir was rethink about that Garang would take whole Sudan…

Do we recognizes that John Garang death there were “no” people behind a death or behind the wheel of the death? Why, peoples allow him to moved to unknown journey without, even his top Officials in the Government.
Therefore, Garang was hunting for many enemies from days and nights to kill him. Garang, death is blame to all Sudanese and especial the SPLA/M itself.
