Sudan releases Kajbar dam activists

Follow up: Detention of Kajbar dam activists

SOAT is glad to report that all of the following Kajbar dam activists have been released in the afternoon of 13 September 2001.

1. Mr. Nazmi Mohamed Hamed, a news reader of the Dongola Radio Broadcasting Station. He was arrested and is detained in Dongola, the capital of the Northern Province (Wilaya).

2. Mr. Al Khatib Mohamed Elsir, an engineer arrested and detained in Dongola.

3. Mr. Maisara Izzeldin Mohamed Munowar, from Amli Village, arrested and detained in Dongola.

4. Mr. Faroug Nuri, a government employee of the Ministry of Finance in Dongola, arrested and detained in Dongola.

5. Mr. Hisham Abbas arrested in Wadi Halfa City while travelling to Egypt.

6. Mr. Daoud Suliman, a member of the Committee in Karma and has now been moved to Dongola prison.

7. Mr. Isam Mohamed Fagir, a member of the Committee at Karma arrested in Karma and now moved to Dongola prison.

8. Mr. Nayif Mohamed Hamed is the brother of Nazmi Mohamed Hamed named above. He was arrested and is detained in Dongola.
He was released in the evening of the 12 of September after collapsing for the third time.

The Committee members wish to thank all of those who acted on their case.
