Eritrean musicians visits South Sudan’s Rumbek

September 22, 2007 (RUMBEK) — Eritrean ambassador to Sudan visited the capital of the Lakes States last week accompanied by a musical troupe to boost cultural relations with southern Sudan.

Eritrea_ambassador_Adak.jpgAmbassador Alem Negash Sengal on September 19 was received at Rumbek airstrip by Lakes State minister for Information, Culture, Youth and Sport Adak Costa Mapuor who welcomed the visit of the Eritrean delegation.

Sengal said that the Eritrean troupe is visiting different states in southern Sudan to strengthen bilateral ties between southern Sudan and Eritrea. The Eritrean delegation flied to Upper Nile from the Lakes.

The Eritrean Musicians held a show at SPLA barracks in Malou which is eight (8) mile out from Rumbek town centre, and a second show was organized at Rumbek freedom square on September.

Alem Negash said that Eritrea had been at war and now it is remained the peaceful place in the world. The Ambassador underlined the important role of music to educate soldiers democratic values and to help to achieve democratic transition in the country.

The state minister of Information and Communication welcomed the cultural relationship between Eritrea and South Sudan, so that promoting cultural common ground must to be used to strengthen the bilateral ties between the two peoples in Eritrea and Sudan.
