Sudan Vice-President holds talks with visiting Dutch ministers on ties, peace

KHARTOUM, Jan 29, 2004 (Sudan Tribune) — The first vice-president, Ali Uthman Muhammad Taha, met in his yesterday with the Dutch ministers of international cooperation and defence and the accompanying delegation.

The meeting reviewed peace process in Sudan and what has recently been achieved in the peace talks in Naivasha. The first vice-president also elaborated on the requirements of the coming period and the role anticipated to be played by the international community in the post-war era.

The delegation expressed their appreciation for the efforts of Sudan to realize peace and stressed their support for development and reconstruction.

Dutch ministers of defence Henk Kamp and development cooperation Agnes van Ardenne arrived yesterday in Khartoum on an official visit which will last several days.

The delegation was received them at Khartoum airport by the minister of state at the Ministry of Defence, Ahmad Muhammad Ali Hasan, and the minister of state at the Ministry of External Relations, Abd-al-Wahhab Najib al-Khayr.

The two Dutch ministers will hold talks with their counterparts and some government officials. The talks will focus on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in several fields.
