Ethiopia, Sudan meet to discuss road network construction
September 29, 2007 (ADDIS ABABA) — The Sudanese-Ethiopian technical committee on roads began its meeting Thursday in Addis Ababa, with the participation of a high-level Sudanese delegation, headed by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Roads Engineer Ibrahim Sharaf.
The Sudanese delegation also includes officials from the Customs Department. The Ethiopian side in the meeting is led by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the official SUNA reported.
The meeting would continue for three days and discuss a number of issues on its agenda, including issues of roads, easing flow of transport between the two countries and customs.
Since 1993 Sudan and Ethiopia agreed to link the two countries with road network in order to promote economic exchanges. The deal was upgraded in 2003.
