Egypt to set up three power stations in southern Sudan: minister

KHARTOUM, Jan29, 2004 (Sudan Tribune) — Sudanese Electricity Minister Ali Tamim Fartak declared on Thursday that the Egyptian government officially approved a project on setting up three power plants in south Sudan.

Fartak pointed out that a team made up of Egyptian experts and specialists would arrive in Khartoum in February to decide on the requirements necessary to set up those plants.

The Sudanese minister indicated that his Egyptian counterpart Hasan Yunis informed him, by phone contact, of the Egyptian government’s approval on establishing the three power pants in the south.
