The meeting will discuss formation of a common mechanism to implement the framework of the Jeddah agreement, signed between the government and the NDA in first week of December last year.

The NDA is expected to integrate a government of National Union during the transitional period that follows the signing of a peace agreement with the SPLA

The Jedda agreement is based on the Machakos framework agreement, signed by the government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) last year.

The text of the agreement confirmed the freedom of political and public activities, without use of violence, freedom of expression and trade union activities, and commitment to international laws on human rights and the right of each state to elect its governors and legislative council.

It said the “the regime in Sudan must be democratic, multiparty, and presidential, and guaranteeing the peaceful change of power through free elections. It calls for stopping military action that some opposition factions are still mounting against Sudanese targets.
