Ethiopia, Sudan border ties show positive results

October 19, 2007 (GAMBELLA) — Joint Border Development cooperation between Ethio-Sudan Border States is registering positives results, State Administration Chiefs said.

Following the conclusion of the three-day meeting of the 10th Ethio-Sudan Joint Border Development Commission held in Gambella town, Chiefs of the Benishangul Gumuz, Amhara and Tigray States said the Joint Development cooperation particularly registered fruitful results in areas of trade, health, security and other development other sectors.

They said the people-to-people relation and cultural ties between the two countries has been strengthened from time to time, the Official ENA reported today.

Infrastructural facilities are being expanded with a view to scaling up the relationship of the tow countries in social, economic, investment and cultural sectors.

They said up on going operational, the road being constructed to interlink the boarder States would further enhance the development cooperation in all sectors.

Abdelrahman Ahmed, Sudanese delegation head and governor of Gadarif State said the activities executed in areas of disease prevention, security, trade and road construction are encouraging.

African Affairs Director General with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sahilework Zewdie said the meeting would strengthen the Joint Development cooperation and people-to-people ties of the two countries.
