New Zealand SPLM office supports the pullout to safe CPA

SUDAN PEOPLE LIBERATION MOVMENT (SPLM) AND GOVERNMENTOF SOUTHERN SUDAN (GOSS) MISSION IN NEW ZEALANDOFFICE OF REPRESENTATIVE

His Excellency 1st Lt. Gen. Salva Kirr Mayardit President of the Government of Southern Sudan, Chairman of SPLM and Commander-in-chief of the SPLA and1stVice President of the Government of the Sudan

15 October 2007

His Excellency,

Subject: suspension of Ministers and Presidential Advisories active roles in Government of Nation Unity

His Excellency, the Sudanese people in New Zealand, regardless of the parties they support, share the concern with SPLM about relentless violation of Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) by National Congress Party (NCP). Sudanese in New Zealand believe the decision made by the SPLM party to suspend the participation of its ministers and Presidential advisories was in favour of all the Sudanese citizens wherever they may be located in the Sudan. We believe the decision was taken by SPLM to rescue the CPA from deliberate continual violation of important articles in the agreement by NCP to incite another round of civil war.

Therefore, the SPLM mission office in New Zealand is here expressing the support by the Sudanese people in New Zealand for the SPLM decision to suspend active roles of the Ministers and Presidential advisories in the Government of Nation unity (GoNU).

His Excellency, we support any idea that seek to resolve any impasse surrounding the following protocols before restating SPLM current position:

1. Security Arrangements (3,b), the SAF must be deployed inside the north of the South-North border of 1956 as stipulated in the CPA.

2. Boundary demarcation,

3. Wealth Sharing (5.1-5.8) there should be meaningful transparency4. Resolution of the Abyei Conflict (5.1 & 5.3) the presidency has to implement these articles as demanded by CPA and live up to its promise.
