Sudanese delegation refuses SLPM role in Darfur peace talks

November 3, 2007 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese delegation for Darfur peace talks refused the participation of a delegation from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in the peace talks as facilitator.

Rev._Clement_Janda.jpgNafi Ali Nafi, Sudanese government chief negotiator to the AU-UN brokered peace talks in Sirte threatened to not attend the opening session of the peace talks on Saturday 27 October if the mediation allows a SPLM delegation to attend as facilitator.

The daily Akhbar Alyoum said the mediators were very embarrassed by the violent reaction of the Sudanese official. They convinced the SPLM delegation to leave the meeting room.

The SPLM was represented by Chairperson of the Task Force and SPLM Special Envoy on Darfur, Reverend Clement Janda, and Edward Lino, a prominent figure in the SPLM and member of the task force.

Nafi told the mediation he rejects the SPLM efforts in Darfur crisis, the daily said.

Since the signing of the CPA, the late John Garang had pledged to play an active role in order to bring peace in Darfur. Salva Kiir following a demand of the joint mediation organised several meetings for Darfur rebels to find a common ground between them before the peace talks.

Some rebel groups refused to attend the talks and preferred to stay in Juba to pursue a unity meeting sponsored by the Southern Sudan government. Some ruling National Congress Party officials criticised the presence of these recalcitrant groups in Juba while the talks started in Sirte.

1Why SPLM Delegates are refused not to participat as facilitators!
Is there any secret in the Darfur peace talks? Why SPLM Delegates are refused to attend the negotiation session?

What is wrong with these converted people? Nafi Ali always hang his head upside down like a bat in the cases of African people in the Sudan. It was because the peace talks were help with the interest of arabs countries but not in the interest of Darfuris who are “Black African”.

SPLM is not an opposition to the Darfuris peace and is not a threat to whatever deal which is going to bring peace to Western Sudan. These people, Southerners and Westerners passed through fatal circumstances caused by people like Nafi Ali. These inexperience politician will bring a disastrous to Sudan in general in a nearer future! It is up to marginalised Sudanese now to think for the appropriate way to fight these rogue people.

My blame goes to the host country, why the president of Libya accept that insane pressure from Nafi to stop SPLM Delegates to attend the opening session? Its mean that the host country and the Sudanese government are having a deal about the Darfuris peace talks!

It is a very big surprise that the negotiators and the host country meet in close doors to discusss a peace procces! A peace talk is held in a open environment such that the world can witness! The other factions who did’t show up have a right not to attend the peace talks because there is no what is called “transparency of reallity”.

These people, Nafi and the host country are not to be blamed! You can’t be mediator without knowing what mediating is all about! A mediator don’t have any side during the talks! A mediator all the time avoid direct questions to any party in the talks! To be a good negotiator, you don’t have to be aggrssive towards other parties! All the mentioned are not with the people like Nafi and the host country!

I am very very very disappointed with the refusal of SPLM Delegates not to participate as facilitators! Nafi Ali don’t have any qualities of leaders! If he has, than he would have not threaten the SPLM Delegates paticipation as facilitators! To be the best negotiator, you need to be very soft, gentle and professional in that field!

It is all crap that any person can just be appointed as negotiator without knowing what negotiation means! You can’t use salt as a sugar for tea! It is a big mess! Our people should have to learn more! Taking things for granted is not the best thing to do!

To wrap it up, the rogue government in Khartuom should start fresh thinking now before not it is too late! If these people who have been mistreated and deny their rights for years realized that crap, than it would be a great pain for arabs in Khartuom!

You African, stop selling our lives and ideas to arabs! We are African not arabs!

    You know where you belong!

Hau!!!! Just imagine if the official of the Government of National Unity rejected the participation of their counterpart in Darfur peace talk what does it imply? To me there is not Government in Sudan sorry to speak. The Government of Omar El-Bashir is full of selfish individuals who want to protect their status-quo on behalf of the suffering marginalizes people of Sudan. They always enjoy being in power using other people’s shoulders to remain in the power so that they can continue oppressing the oppressed until no more. If the government of semi-autonomy Southern-Sudan had been holding frequent meetings with Darfur rebel leaders what should it has to do with participation of SPLM in the peace negotiation? Do you know why they were facilitating meetings with these rebel leaders? May be they wanted to find the best mechanism to resolved the problem in Darfur.

So here we are as Sudanese, what do think as the best approach of dealing out with such navy Government who did not think of the security of it citizens but in of killing and murder? To me we should all stand up and say enough is enough for this dictatorship government. Why should we accept to be misled by selfish few clique of invaders who have no origin in Sudan? I urge all the Sudanese and true Africans by blood either it been from south, East and west to join hands and fight out this oppress Government out of the regime.

Sudan has got a hard nut to crack….Itz a very huge curse for the Sudan to have got people like Nafi whose aims are not to bring peace and harmony in the Sudan but to create drawbacks when people have found the right path to follow. I am very sure there is no successful negotiation if Ali is going to be the chief negotiator…. NEVER. Nafi,s brutality shouldn,t be brought before the public instead it remained for his wife at home……What does SPLM mean to Nafi by the way? and what is CPA if people are still behaving in such manners, prejudice in itz fullest meaning.Least only be piece of my mind to the SPLM is,if you are going to miss that negotiation then call it not a negotiation but a violent disagreements coz Nafi is not for agreements but aim at fulfilling his Khartoum needs also no successful peace in Darfur if Ali remained as it,z said……and to say, thatz a win-lost situation not what iz expected.Lastly,I wish I am allow to see the part of the body Nafi utters his usual and everthreatening words. I also wish to stay in futre in the Sudan where those of Ali had already reached duty expiry-a peaceful country.
