Sudanese respond to militia callup – report

November 20, 2007 (KHARTOUM) — Young supporters of Sudan’s president are responding to his call for more recruits to northern militia, a political youth leader told a pro-ruling party media on Tuesday, further raising tension after a north-south civil war.

Sudanese_PDF_soldiers.jpgPresident Omar Hassan al-Bashir urged the government-allied Popular Defence Forces to start training more mujahideen (holy warriors) in a televised speech on Saturday.

Former rebels from Sudan’s semi-autonomous south accused the president of “calling for war”.

The Popular Defence Forces fought the south in a two-decade civil war until a shaky 2005 peace agreement and were accused of a string of atrocities, including mass abductions and rape, in Sudan’s western Darfur region by the United Nations.

The Youth Department Secretary of Bashir’s dominant National Congress Party (NCP), Haj Majed Suwar, told the pro-NCP media that members had “started assembling Mujahideen who (were) waiting eagerly to execute the president’s order”.

Suwar told the Sudanese Media Centre (SMC) the youth department was preparing to open training camps in response to the president’s call.

The SMC quoted Suwar as saying Jihad was a tradition that could not be stopped by signing peace agreements.

“(Suwar) said our target in the upcoming possible war was not the SPLM (the south’s dominant Sudan People’s Liberation Movement), but its backing elements,” reported the agency, without giving further details.

Bashir told a Popular Defence Forces rally on Saturday the militia should open the camps “not for the sake of war but to be ready for anything”.

The speech raised the temperature in a growing confrontation between Khartoum and the SPLM.

Southern ministers walked out of the country’s coalition government last month saying Bashir was stalling on the 2005 agreement that ended the north-south civil war.

Senior SPLM officials denounced Bashir’s speech at the weekend saying it amounted to a call for war. The SPLM’s leader Salva Kiir on Monday said he was committed to the peace deal but was ready to defend the south if attacked.

wow, they boys from north sudan are really excited about going back to war.could someone tells them what they would be experience in south Sudan if we will go to war. These boys have to think very careful about the outcomes of the war, they have to ask their family about happened during the last 21 years. I think they have to know we southerners love the CPA, but if that CPA is not puting into really action by the government than why do we have to care about that CPA. we are not they only would get a worth result at this time. The whole sudan would face the consequencs of war wether the mujahideens and the religion figters. But I am glad that our leaders are keeping the CPA intact, I hope they would contiuing their promise that they are going back to war. they have see who will open his gun first

My brothers from north section would have to know that the war will never end and they also have to know at this war in Sudan, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. we are all going to get through difficulties in life wether you are mujahideens or holy wariors. I hope their family would tell them what happened during the war. The SPLA is still strong, its will never change, the Spla would keep its promise that leaders are working very hard to liberate all sudanses wether they are muslim or christian in Sudan.

    Thankful to our leaders

HMM! itz very bright of them but the only thing they should put in minds after declaring war is that our guns doesn,t spit water but bullets. Opening or not opening training camps doesn,t affect anything for the bullets will not respect mujahideen coz of having taken jihad training.Be very excited but our teeth shall all be red in the process indescriminately.

    TODAY IS NOT YESTERDAY!

The Young supporters of Sudan’s president should bear in their minds that the second round war they are desiring in would result into everybody’s bloodstream because bullets never reject who you are. Whether Holy warriors, the son of a rich man or poor man.

Dear brothers in the North, we have seen you declaring the war in Sudan targeting South Sudan only. Yes; 100% SPLM has committed to peace but you want to awake it to war again which will all value its cost.

Pagan Amum, our man! even if all people who hate peace in Sudan talk against him they will never win any more.

    Thank you

First of all,I don’t want to put any comment on what Bashir requested from his devotees because, I know his diabolic ideas.

Secondly, I know he and his little DOGS are not joking. They are taking it seriously to continue their mission of killing inocent people and devastate South Sudan. Now he got strong support from his real devils; So, what is our position or role at this point as SPLA suppoters? I don’t think that we are going to rely on those who had already experienced bush life for two decates. It is our turn and duty to confront any eventuality. So, please make your promis at this tough situation to defend your self and your inocent people of our promise land South Sudan. The entire world knows that SPLA is not agrressor but it will defend it self from any unknown whatsoever Bashir desired in in Sudan.
Thirdly, we all know that SPLM is commited to implement the CPA but, if the condition requires it to be put on hold untill we come back later, that should be OK. because, eveyone will taste the outcome of the up coming war.
Finaly, Bashir should not intimidate us, he should die like any body else at any an unspecify time. So lets go.
