Bashir says southern Sudan separation possible, urges more for unity
November 23, 2007 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir on Friday did not rule out a separation between northern and southern Sudan, calling for more efforts to maintain the unity of the largest African country.
“The possibility for the separation is existing, but the unity can still be ensured if a little more efforts are exerted,” the Sudanese president said.
Al-Bashir made the remarks at a press conference after the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) closed a three-day general conference in Khartoum.
“The number of people who believe in the unity is not little, but sometimes the voice of the separatists is high,” added al-Bashir, who is also the chairman of the NCP.
He asked the Sudanese southerners in the NCP as well as the Sudanese northerners in the south-based Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) to lead the public opinion toward the direction of the unity.
According to a peace deal signed between the Khartoum government led by the NCP and the former rebel SPLM in 2005, a referendum will be conducted in southern Sudan in 2011 to decide whether the region will separate from Sudan to be an independent state.
During the transitional period before that, the political power in the central government is shared mainly between the NCP and the SPLM in a bid to advertize the unity for the southern Sudanese people.
The SPLM announced on Oct. 11 a decision to suspend the participation of its ministers in the central government to protest over what it called a “procrastination” of the implementation of the peace deal.
Al-Bashir expressed his confidence that the two peace partners could overcome the present political crisis, saying that “it is not strange for the existence of problems in implementing the peace agreement after 20 years of fighting” between the two sides.
Noting that the problems could be solved anyway, the Sudanese president refused any foreign interference in the current crisis.
In a message to the NCP conference, Sudanese First Vice President and Chairman of the SPLM Salva Kiir Mayardit said the two parties had “realized the biggest historic achievement in Sudan which is the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA)”.
Mayardit stressed the SPLM’s commitment to the full implementation of the peace agreement, adding that there would never be a return to war.

Bashir says southern Sudan separation possible, urges more for unity
Uncle Basir, is just as easy as piece of cake, just try to do the follwing:
1) Scrapt sharia law completey away from sudan and cut your ties with devilic nations like Iran.
2) Show your faith by supporting full implementation of CPA.
3)Begin to build schools, hospitals, roads, bridges in southern Sudan as you do in the north before 2011 for southerners to think of your rhetorics.
4) Stop buying helicopters and gunships using our money while others are perishing in west and south of the country.
The above four easy steps may let half of southerners to sign your claims at least by pencils, not by ink for couple of years.

Hell No beshir!
What beshir! omar beshir, Negerian grandson has forgotten his origin and turned his back to his own people! beshir always doesn’t stand on his promises! I don’t think whether the effort beshir is asking to maintain unity in Sudan will be possible!
There will be no unity without any attraction among the Sudanese people! To make sometime work, you need to give up something to get other one! beshir government had been brutal, savage and barbaric towards all African tribes in the Sudan. This is the right time for all the marginalised people of Sudan to come under one umbrella to defeat this evil government.
To entice unity!
beshir should have to give up the following;
a)His post as army chief
b)scrap sharia law from the national constitution.
c)Implement the CPA
D)Solve all the crisis like Abyei problem
e)Withdraw all the troops from the oil fileds.
f)Stop the killing of civilians in Darfur.
g)Stop intimidation of opponents in politics.
h)Freedom of speech and media
i)Rights of women
If beshir fulfil the above mentioned, I think it would bring down the way all people in the Sudan think to a level where they will make assumption of unity possibility in anyway! Dictatorship has no any level and it lead the country in a wrong direction!
In the developed world, there is always a separation of politics and beliefs (church). But in the Sudan, we don’t have that, religion is mixed up with the politics and other social affairs which contradict all the best ways of social welfare of the people.
It is good always when you enter politics, it needs you at least to have a little background about the following;
What is politics? What is the country? What is humanity? What is social welfare? What is community? Without knowing the answers to above questions, you won’t be able to govern a country?
Leaders who led the country as military commanders and heads of the state the same time can;t bring prosperity to their people but dragged the people into hardship and dire situation of which locals can’t afford to get out of!
As a reference, Adolf Hilter of Germany, Muslini of Italy, Idi Amin of Ugandan and Sadam Husein of Iraq and Parvez Musaraf of Pakistan! All these leaders I have mentioned did’t bring their communities what they want for their life time but they put them in despair and agony.
to wrap it up,t is good for beshir to clean up all the messes he has done for eighteen years and prepare for a clean road map to peace for all Sudanese if he want unity to be in place.

I hope there will atleast be changes if Bashir is going to think big on what will make unity attractive……not other than what bro.James James has put forward.Sudan is heading for separation not because of anything else a part from the system of governance. And if people can sit down, stop buying people to destroy others at the countryside things will be okay for us all.

Dear Bashir,
We, Southern Sudanese were optimistic about separation you have not ruled out through CPA which we are respecting the protocols signed in 2005 yet you are now turning down somes, like Abyei Boundary. Whom are you claiming for signing Abyei protocol? Don,t you know that you are the one signed it with those fingers of yours? Abyei is a tree in our mother tongue and we name that area to be Abyei. How do you call Abyei now in your mother tongue? If I were you, I would not call it Abyei yet I don,t know the meaning of why it is call like that. Shame on you! We shall not leave Abyei Completely because we are not after oil as you are, but our land and people which your NCP has colonized in years ago.
