Sudan supports Ethiopia’s efforts to bring stability in Somalia

December 9, 2007 ( ADDIS ABABA ) — The government of Sudan completely supports Ethiopia ’s on going efforts to bring lasting peace and stability in the war torn Somalia, Sudanese ambassador said
Sudanese Ambassador, Idris Ismail Farajallah said, “Sudan and Ethiopia are jointly working to ensure lasting peace and security in Somalia and in the horn region as a whole.”
“Sudan supports Ethiopia’s over all efforts in the Horn region, as it is carrying out its responsibility being one member of IGAD;” he said. Adding “all IGAD member countries should commit them selves similarly as the fragile security situation in the region will any way affect them directly or indirectly.”
Farajallah called on the international community to be committed to its moral obligation to secure peace in the region and support the young transitional federal government of Somalia.
Ethiopia and Sudan have long been committing themselves in bolstering national reconciliation conference in Somalia and in other various forms of support to Somalia.
