South Sudan: The spirit of darkness

By John John Jr

December 9, 2007 — The spirit of darkness had overshadowed the Sudanese due to the immature and an unexpected death of the Founding Father of the Sudan People Liberation Movement/Army. The first vice president of the Republic of Sudan and the president of Southern Sudan had accidentally left the country in a miserable state as a result of his unimaginable death. Month of July comes with sad regrets; it brings the day we will never forget as a nation. July is an absolute a sad month to the peace-lovers Sudanese round the globe; and especially to those whom may have experienced the struggled either direct or indirect. The IDP, refugees within or in Diaspora and all the Sudanese in general and in particular had placed their magnificent hope into the shoulder of Mr. Garang as a redeemer. Hence the rapids departure of Garang’s life has abundant the marginalized people of Sudan in a state of nightmare and dubious. Hearts and minds were and are still preoccupied by the tragedy, however the root caused of his death are not yet revealed to the nation he had sacrificed his life for. To conceal the trust and prophesized the lied to the public about his death. The leadership of the SPLM/A didn’t make a definite a follow-up to find out whether a fate was caused by chopper technical error. However the irrational blame is bestowed on the chopper internal error and the pilot, other were saying it could be the whether. Yet, the reality is that, some leaders in the interim government of Southern Sudan, members of National government, in collaboration with the president of Uganda and Western countries had their hands into the death of the charismatic leader. Mr. Kiir is good leader but he is going to lost his creditability due to the way he has surrounded himself with the most corrupted peers.

The termination and removal of Aleu Anyeny Aleu from his position of ministry because he had revealed the truth about the death of Dr. Garang, had made the Sudanese much suspicious about the position of Salva Kiir. The confined report released by Aleu about the intimidated murdered would not enabled him to be a foe but a hero. The enemy of peace and the lovers of the tragedy had precisely ganged up to scattered away the visionaries’ citizens. They called them all kind of names applicable to them, either Garang’s “royalists”, or Garang’s “boys” in order to discourage their participation in the government. However for your information fellow citizens, the president of the Southern Sudan, deceived the world that he is improving the devastated nation but he is just simply encouraging the act of corruption and nepotisms. Mr. Kiir’s simply believed fault histories without proper evidence. Media always lie and every things that comes from media can not be justify, I am deeply astonished to see Mr. President taking the allegations of his toppling serious without a proper source. Is this how he is going to lead the nation? The answer is absolutely no, a leader has to be tolerant and vigilant, therefore Mr. Kiir does not fit to lead in this case.

Kiir’s had already scared away Nhial Deng Nhial and now is Aleu Ayeny Aleu and Telar Ring Deng. Tomorrow would be George Kingga from Toposa, Kuol Manyang, Uyey Deng Ajak, Wani Iga, Pagan Amum, Malak Agar from Blue Nile, Paulino Matip, the list is long enough. What he is doing is correlated history I read four week ago about white, black and red cows with a lion. Please fellow citizens, lets wake up to see what kind of a game is Kiir’s playing?

Kiir’s vision for the people of the southern Sudan is contrary to what Garang’s had. Kiir’s is shortsighted man, he can’t see beyond or predict the future. He doesn’t understand what make Sudan beautiful and rich, it is her diversity and heritage. He has launched a campaigned for the separation to the civilians whom don’t know the future consequences of the separation. Before the election, it would be an appropriate for his administration to educate the nation about the pros and cans for separation or unity!

Garang’s vision for the Movement was to set all the Sudanese free despite their geographical demarcation or religious affiliation. Garang’s believed that Sudan should be a secular nation where all faiths should peacefully coexist without tensions. There were legitimate reasons to vote for unity rather then a separation, but it was unfortunate to lost Garang before he stabilized the nation and disciplined the corruptors. May his soul rest in peace.

The government of southern Sudan is condoning the crimes and corruptions led by the high-ranking officials in the leadership. It has happen that Cadres and other high-ranking officials left the most needy citizens to suffer while they are enjoying the fruits of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in Juba. The wealth’s of the South are being used by the individuals, the high-ranking members SPLM/A, owned the expensive cars and homes in Juba and they have made Juba as their headquarter. They don’t pay attention to the families of their comrades whom had given up their lives for the freedom. They don’t hear or listen to the situation affecting their constituencies in own jurisdiction. But Kiir’s as the spearhead still favor such behaviors of corruptions and nepotism. In face of the world, Kiir is good leader but he is going to lost his creditability due to the way he has surrounded himself with the most corrupted peers.

Under no circumstance, Life goes on, and years go by, but the precious memories of Dr. Garang, will never die but shall live through out the ages. May God rest his souls in eternal peace!

South Sudan: The spirit of darkness
My brother, your name, John John Jr, has shown that you are scared to show your real identity. We do not have names like that in Sudan. John is normal, but not the double one. However, you are right to get scared. Things are hot. I wish people who are not government officials should speak their minds.

But it is against the code of conduct in any country for an active official in the government to comment on serious issues like the death of John Garang without any permission from his boss. That could be the reason why Aleu was dismissed. If he was a normal citizen like you and me, nobody would have even noticed him. I wish people like you are not scared off until they could hide their identities. Freedom of speech is a part of democracy, unless we do not mean what we say when we say that we are fighting for democracy.

However, freedom of speech has a limit. No one should create chaos in the name of the freedom of speech. Any way, I am not a politician. I am just reasoning.

Concerning the issue of Garang’s death and Aleu’s position, I really do not believe that Aleu is fighting for Garang. If he is really risking his life because he loves Garang, then I will be the last person to appreciate it. I am related to Dr. Garang. So I might appreciate those who fight to make sure that Garang’s killers are brought to justice. But Aleu is a wrong person to do that. John Garang would have been killed during the peace talk which resulted in the signing of CPA if Salva Kiir was a person who jumps into issues without studying them. My friend John, it was Aleu Ayieng who wanted Salva Kiir to kill Dr. Garang in 2004.

Again, when Garang died, Aleu was among the committee members that investigated the death of Garang, but he never said anything different from what the other members of the committee said about their findings. So, should I now believe Aleu that he is a lover of John Garang? I don’t think so, although I am related to Dr. Garang. Those who are confused like Aleu must stay at home. But we will still find out what killed John Garang. Not through Aleu, but through the honest citizens of South Sudan, those who genuinely love Dr. Garang.

I don’t think it is a good idea this time to blackmail Salva Kiir on the death of John Garang. Garang would not even appreciate it if he were still alive. Salva Kiir must be judged on different issues if he becomes a bad leader, but not on the death of Dr. Garang. The blood of Dr. Garang would join the blood of the rest of the fallen heroes in Sudan and will smile in their graves if the people of South Sudan do not let them down. We the ordinary people and our current leaders must fight until we achieve the real freedom for the suffering people of Sudan. That was the reason why many people, including our beloved leader, Dr. Garang, gave their lives. Struggle must continue. No to disunity.

well, this is my first time to note unlogical educated person from Rumbek. John John have to read the history of the southern sudanese struggle and that of uganda and then make analysis.Surely he can know who are the real people who killed our hero Dr Garang.what we all southerners should know is that Jalaba (Arabs) of he NCP are smart and can conduct a plot to kill any southern VIP within the ugandan or kenyan territory with ease, and since they have mastered the pyschology of southerners through years such a plan can bring them benefit as they think .As the result of any ,Southerners may become suspicious of their own brothers the ugandans or kenyans who hosted them throughout their struggle and possibly may run into war with them ,and thus weakening the cause of thier precious sruggle. At this point the Arab can sit back and say they have won the war. We southerners should directly beat the head not the tail.Truly Garang was killed by jalaba(Arab) of the NPC in a complicated plan.

    Mr. John:

I have sometimes reading problems to bending articles like yours and I was going to tap my ears, if you would have talk about this next to me young uncle.

In fact Bible reqires us to praise, pray and respect the dead, that is why we urge every citizen of Sudan to take it as duty to remember and pay his tribute to Garang and other fallen heroes in prayers and by word of mouth.

However,I agree you, Garang was very competent charismatic leader, yet there were few things that he didn’t meet during his leadership and now unbelievably president Salva Kiir achieved them for us.for instant, Kiir had managed to bring all those factions in south Sudan together in less than a three months, meanwhile it was almost a war between Pualino and Garang after their meeting in Khartoum, because Garang did not come even close to agree with Matip at all, but Salva did it.

I don’t understand which people do you refer to as corrupt peers around Kiir ? becase I am sure all those senior officals on the top of ministries, are all the same senior officals before Garang death, except Pualino Matip and Ismael Konyi who join GOSS with their forces out of our all need for the unity of the country. I don’t know whom do you referred to brother ?

Secondly, before CPA, do you know that there were SPLA officers who were renting houses worth $500 a month while others spend nights without meal, could I called that corruption too ?

Mr john, let stop goring ourselves like bulls, better united and blame Kiir with tangible forensic administrative errors, not with ill self-driven claims.
