India’s Mahindra launches SUV, pickup truck in Sudan

December 13, 2007 (MUMBAI) — India’s Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said on Thursday it has launched its Scorpio sport utility and Mahindra and Bolero pickup trucks in Sudan as it seeks a larger international profile for its brands.

Mahindra, India’s top utility vehicle and tractor maker, will sell the Scorpio, the Mahindra Pik-Up and Bolero Pik-Up in Sudan through distributor Symex International, it said in a statement.

Mahindra, which is on the final shortlist for Ford Motor Co’s Jaguar and Land Rover luxury brands, already exports the Scorpio and Bolero models to countries in Europe, Asia and Africa, and will begin exports to the United States in 2009.

It aims to get a fifth of its revenue from exports in the next few years, up from about 5 percent now.
