Ethiopia pledges to contribute to South Sudan construction
December 13, 2007 (ADDIS ABABA) – Ethiopia’s Prime Minister expressed readiness to provide assistance to southern Sudan project for road constructions and housing, the official ENA reported.
Meles said based on the bilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and the Sudan, Ethiopia pays the necessary attention for the road and other development projects in Southern Sudan.
Ethiopian Minister of Work and Urban Development Dr. Kassu Illala, told reporters following the meeting that there is acute shortage of residential houses and bureaus in Juba and other towns in South Sudan.
The Minister said the Ethiopian government has pledged to provide capacity building assistance to address the housing in Southern Sudan following the request form the Sudanese government.
The Ethiopian official further said that Memorandum of Understanding would be singed on Friday for the provision of capacity building assistance here on Friday.
CPA DISCUSSED
Following the meeting, the Sudanese First Vice-President told journalist that he discussed the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) cross border security, and other issues of common concern.
He reassured Meles Zenawi that there will never be a return to war and that the people of South Sudan are now talking about the peace options and how to preserve the gains which were achieved by the CPA as well as progressing ahead on the peace road.
CPA partners have overcome last week the first serious political crisis since the signing of the peace deal in 2005. The SPLM suspended its participation in the national unity government protesting the ill implementation of protocols related to Abyei, north south border, and the redeployment of troops.

Congratulation to His Excellencies the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Southern Sudan President for their universal common senses of understanding, it’s indeed amazing that His Excellncy Meles Zenawi promised the Semi Autonomou Nation of South Sudan a Frastructral aidings.
Iam therefore congratulating both leaders on their bilateral relationship, because the most important thing in a leader’s regime is to create a linkage and social relationship to her Neighbours otherwise the ruler will be over shadowed with chaos of unknown direction of flows, hence our leader is disregarding the accusations of being an educated, i was somehow scared when i saw President Bashir coming now and then i thought that South Sudan is going to loose her mutual friendship with the Government of Ethiopia.
During the death of Dr John there were so many complains emerged that Salva Kiir is not a political leader and when he was interviewed he said that Dr John was built by us (his people) through supports and common understanding therefore if iam supported i will do what people want, now he has proved himselp that he can lead people of Nwe Sudan to a promised land by expulsion of being a non-political and millitary man.
Bravo your Excellency go a head your capability is clearly seen and one is importance to you, avoid your family advices for they are not favourable to you, remember 2004 confusion,lead your people to the expectations.

Great move and wonderful deals, a friend indeed is the Friend in need. His Excellency-PM Melees had realized that to have ties with Southern Sudan is a kind and need more effort.
Southern Sudan and VP. His Excellency LT. Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit is a man who work toward right decisions on transformations this Country torn a part by NCP of Bashir and Other politician who enjoy Bloods and mindless of Development.
How come that Southern Sudan had no read linkage those majors Countries and even to Khartoum-so Called our Capital City. It’s for Bashir and His collaborators.
Please Mr. President we need Development not WAR. Ethiopia had good relationship with Southern Sudan and should handle with Respect as they do toward our Former Comrades.
A country with no Road and infrastructures is a like A Virgin Girl with No Boy-Friend.
Our Country had Leaders with potentials skills NOT Like Comrades Bashir who always Shout on WAR-Jihadism.
Please do our Commissioners actually know what they are holding and theirs Roles in GOSS? They went to South Africa for change on Post War Construction but most of the seem come back home with aim of watching rather than lying foundation for GOSS. Do they want President and His VP to do things on theirs behaves in their Counties, they all lack initiatives and Development concept.
Am great concern if I saw Southern Sudan falling with only Top Leaders struggling to Development and initiate and Representatives are locking themselves off.
God give Leaders to guide us and will continue to take care of us to the Holy Land- Our Jerusalem will never be left to be Arabs.
Extend the same relationship to Kenya and Uganda to link up our Country- We need ROAD for accessibility.
