Follow professional ethics, governor tells media practitioners

January 15, 2022 (WAU) – Journalists and media practitioners should adhere to set ethics and codes of conduct, an official said.

Speaking during the 30th anniversary commemoration of Radio Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal state governor, Sarah Cleto Rial lauded the population for supporting the community radio, despite numerous challenges faced.

The event was organized by the state government in collaboration with Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO).

Musa Arkangelo, the state information minister acknowledged CEPO’s role in supporting the community radio.

He cited mobility, inadequate equipment and lack of training opportunities for journalists as some of the key challenges facing the radio.

For his part, the regional coordinator tor CEPO, Stephen Robo Musa said community radio stations are key in transforming societies.

He urged the state government to protect the rights of all journalists.

Operational on frequency modulation 96.5, Radio Wau was established in January 1992 as a government-owned radio. The radio temporality halted its operation due to the country’s civil war.
