Sudan welcomes appointment of Chinese envoy for Horn of Africa

March 3, 2022 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan on Thursday welcomed China’s decision to appoint a special envoy for the Horn of Africa.

On February 23, China appointed Ambassador Xue Bing, as a special envoy for the Horn of Africa affairs.

Bing is a veteran diplomat with work experience in Africa, the Americas, and Oceania.

The Sudanese foreign ministry on Thursday welcomed the appointment of the Chinese envoy, adding that Chinese efforts will “certainly contribute to achieving peace, stability and advancing the economic development process in the Horn of Africa”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs looks forward to the envoy’s visit to Sudan as soon as possible, to enhance communication and coordination with the Chinese side in order to advance and develop bilateral relations (…),” added the statement.
