Sudan, Turkey discuss ways to boost military cooperation

January 10, 2008 (KHARTOUM) — Sudan and Turkey discussed ways to develop the military cooperation between the two countries following the signing of Memorandum of understanding on military cooperation last year.

During a visit to Ankara in July 2007, Sudanese Minister of Defence signed the MoU on military cooperation. The minister Abdelrahim Hussein at that time said that the MoU will be developed in the future to military protocol on the training and exchange of savoir faire.

A visiting military Turkish delegation held talks on Tuesday January 8 with Sudanese army delegation in Khartoum on military cooperation between the two armies in areas of military industrialization, transfer of military technology, training, and provide military services.

The two delegations are expected to sign another MoU in order to prepare the military cooperation deal that to be signed between the two countries at a later date.

The Turkish delegation visits different industrial military establishments before its departure to Ankara.

Sudanese army is developing with countries like Pakistan, Iran and Turkey a policy of transfer of technology, training and military industrialization, protocols of cooperation agreement were signed last year with Iran and Turkey.
