Sudanese opposition NDA leaders meeting in Eritrea
ASMARA, Feb 13, 2004 (Sudan Tribune) — The leadership of Sudanese opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) started its regular meeting in Asmara today, 13 February.
In a keynote speech, the chairman of the alliance, Mohamed Osman al-Mirghani, gave detailed account of the prevailing political developments in Sudan and ongoing efforts to bring about comprehensive peace in Sudan.
Saying that the current stage Sudan was passing through was sensitive and very dangerous, al-Mirghani praised the Eritrean government for its firm stand on peace and stability in Sudan.
For his part, the vice-chairman of the alliance, Dr John Garang, gave detailed account of the ongoing peace process.
The meeting, which will continue until 15 February, will discuss a number of issues, among of them, the political stands witnessed after the signing of an agreement between Mohamed Osman al-Mirghani and Sudanese Vice-President Ali Osman Muhamed Taha in Jidda, Saudi Arabia, the Naivasha peace process, the future of the NDA, the situation in Darfur and other issues.
