Sudan security service still detaining SPLM official – watchdog
January 11, 2008 (LONDON) — A Sudanese rights group said today that security service still detaining a Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) official in Khartoum state without charges since November 2007
SPLM Secretary of Media and Culture for Khartoum State, Amar Najm Eddine al-Jak, was arrested on Friday 23 November in the morning at Khartoum airport while he was on his way to Juba, the capital of southern Sudan.
The Sudan Organisation Against Torture (SOAT) said such arrest constitutes flagrant violation of the Interim National Constitution (INC) that entered into force in Sudan in 2005.
His lawyer, Nabil Adib, says he does not know whether or not his client is being investigated. He has filed a petition before the Constitutional Court demanding his release arguing that his detention under the National Security Forces Act of 1999 violates the 2005 constitution.
The 1999 Act allows for detention without charge for up to nine months.
Nabil also stated that he has no access to his client. Only his family was allowed to meet him twice since his detention, SOAt said.
In a statement issued on November 27, Deng Guj Aweil, SPLM Northern Sector spokesperson said shocked by the arrest of Amar. The former rebel movement said worried by the increase in arrests of SPLM cadres without substantive accusations.
In their first meeting after the withdrawal of the SPLM from the national unity government, the SPLM leader Salva Kiir demanded the release of unlawfully detained citizens by Khartoum law enforcement agencies.
He further asked for the release of Yien Mathew and other SPLM members who are unlawfully detained.

I know this is the evil of the NCP who don,t want to hear the name of the SPLM, Some one arreted since NOV, TILL now without charges what does mean actually is that not a madness? If there is court of justice really in Sudan such cases could not happen.
Iam humbly asking our SPLM leaders to intervent if there is voice such that he may come back and rejoin his normal work to help SPLM,
However, You NCP should know very well that there is time for every thing, your time for mistreating the black is over otherwise! shut up.

It is so difficult to understand why the Sudan Sucurity forces arrest the SPLM members with out informing the SPLM party. this seem to be the weakness from the SPLM side, b’se it is very clear in the CPA that thwe two parties will use the maximum respect to its memebrs in all aspect. the person accaused of nay crime should be investigated and taken to court within 24 hours, but not according to islamic law of nine month. I urge the SPLM leader to inform the NCP not to arrest any memebr of the SPLM without consant form party leader otherwise the NCP will use this to eliminate and detain the active memebrs of SPLM party in Khartoum. So the SPLM should not keerp quite while his members are suffering under detaintion of their partner in the GoNU. we shuold not be intamidated this time.
