Outcomes of the First FFC Deliberative Conference: Statement
The Sudan Revolutionary Front
Statement on the Outcomes of the First Deliberative Conference
Under the slogan of “Sudan First,” the Sudan Revolutionary Front held the first Deliberative Conference from 24-27 March in Ad-Damazin, Blue Nile, focused on renewing the political discourse and the organizational structure.
The Conference addressed several issues and concluded with the following outputs:
- The current political crisis is due to both the absence of unity and consensus around a national project for Sudan as well as the decisions of October 25 under which power was seized by the military. The way out of the crisis must be a national consensus around the principles leading to a comprehensive political settlement in which all active political forces participate except for the dissolved National Congress. The Revolutionary Front hereby launches an integrated initiative to resolve the Sudanese crisis that aims for consensus between the parties and contains a roadmap and matrix for implementation through a two-stage dialogue initiative.
- The first stage: a dialogue between the partners of the transitional period as defined in the Constitutional Charter with the aim of establishing a government to manage the transitional period.
- The second stage: dialogue among all political forces that leads to the formation of an approach addressing the issues of governance, constitution-making, and elections.
- Requirements for this initiative, shall include:
- Ceasing violence against peaceful protesters.
- Releasing political prisoners from the forces of the revolution.
- Lifting the state of emergency.
- The Revolutionary Front welcomes any amendments to the Constitutional Charter that contribute to a comprehensive political settlement provided that such amendments do not prejudice the Juba Agreement for Peace in Sudan.
- The Revolutionary Front is a strategic alliance of active forces and an independent political bloc that maintains coordinated relations with all political alliances and is guided by the Juba Agreement for Peace in Sudan as its fundamental political project and core.
- The military component is a partner in the success of the glorious December Revolution and a partner in managing the transitional period as stipulated in the Constitutional Charter. The continuation of this partnership constitutes a basic guarantee for completing the transitional period and achieving the democratic transition.
- The Juba Agreement for Peace in Sudan is indivisible, protected by a constitutional status, and shall be implemented as a single whole that includes the tracks of the North, Center, and East; the immediate implementation of the Eastern Track Agreement must commence, and the Conference for the East of Sudan as stipulated in the Agreement is the correct approach to resolving the crisis in Eastern Sudan.
- Security arrangements are essential to reform the military institution and build a national military with one doctrine that preserves security and protects the Constitution. Therefore, accelerating the implementation and completion of security arrangements is an important matter, and providing non-military logistical support is an urgent necessity. The security situation in Darfur was also addressed, particularly the unfortunate events in Jebel Moon, and the Revolutionary Front hereby calls for an independent investigation committee to bring the perpetrators to justice.
- The deteriorating economic situation that has exacerbated the suffering of the Sudanese people requires urgent reforms that shall contribute to alleviating the suffering and setting up an economic strategy that contributes to increasing production, attracting investments, and trade exchange.
- The conference discussed a proposal to activate the work of the Revolutionary Front, through a package of organizational measures to develop its structure and ensure more flexibility. The Conference set a date for the General Conference for the Transition of Leadership in September 2022. The representatives of the Revolutionary Front in the Transitional Sovereign Council, the federal ministers, the regional governors, regional ministers, and state governors each provided updates on their performances as well as the difficulties and challenges they face.
At the conclusion of its Deliberative Conference, the Revolutionary Front evaluated its experiences and received constructive criticism with the aim of guiding the Front to a forward-looking path to assume its responsibilities in building the nation.
