Gov’t delegation to leave for peace talks in Kenya
KHARTOUM, Feb 16, 2004 (Sudan Tribune) — The Sudanese government delegation will leave tomorrow for Kenya under the leadership of the first vice-president Ali Osman Mohamed Taha to resume the peace talks with the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLM).
The talks were adjourned on 23 January following the Eid-al-Al-Dhaha celebrations.
Ali Ahmad Hamid, the secretary general of the peace secretariat, has said that the all arrangements for this round of talks had been completed.
In an interview with the Sudanese radio, the secretary said that the forthcoming round of talks will dwell on issues that were not discussed because of their relations to the three disputed regions, and others which include power sharing and how to implement the peace agreement.
He expressed hope that the forthcoming rounds of talks would resolve the pending issues to bring about a comprehensive peace to the country.
