Two people killed, one injured in Sudan’s Blue Nile State
July 13, 2022 (KHARTOUM) – A farmer was killed following a local dispute with the Falata tribe in Sudan’s Blue Nile State, the International Organization of Migration’s (IOM) said in the country’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM).
The incident, it said, occurred in Hammari village in Gerisan area on July 10.
“On 11 July 2022, a further individual was killed in Bakowry village, leading a collection of tribes in Blue Nile state to attack the Falata village south of Bakowry village. As a result of the clashes, field teams indicate that two individuals have reportedly been killed and one individual has sustained injuries,” partly reads the DTM Sudan’s Early Warning Flash Alerts.
The field team reports that approximately 60 households from the Falata village have been displaced, and a further 25 households from Murmuz El Jebel village have been displaced to Bakowry village.
“Sudanese Armed Forces have been deployed to the area to calm the security situation. The area remains accessible to the humanitarian community. The situation remains tense and unpredictable,” it stated.
DTM is reportedly monitoring the situation closely and will be activating its Emergency Event Tracking (EET) tool, when possible, to track displacement and provide additional information on shelter, sex and age disaggregation, protection indicators, and urgent humanitarian needs.
The early warming alert provide immediate updates on incidents and sudden displacement in Sudan. These Flash Alerts aim to notify humanitarian partners of sudden events where DTM’s Emergency Event Tracking may subsequently take place.
