NILEPET committed to welfare of staff, wellbeing of economy

Dear staff/public

On July 14, a group of anti -NILEPET individuals, who claim to be “We the NILEPET staff” in the article, published a message, purported to be a planned sit-in strike by NILEPET staff.

Nile Petroleum Corporation informs the public that this fabricated disinformation campaign is propaganda and fake news, designed to sabotage NILEPET operation.

Although institutions respect internal privacy, we would like to make the following clarifications:

  1. Since the establishment of NILEPET, it doesn’t have a Trade Union, a Worker’s Union, or stirring and executive committee. This fact proves the message in the article nonsensical because the body the clueless group claim to be organizing the sit-in strike doesn’t exist. The article is an insult to all the staff of NILEPET.
  2. NILEPET as a government parastatal respects the national mandate, values its staff, appreciates the staff commitment to work, and therefore, pays its staff on time every month.
  3. For NILEPET values the contributions of its workforce, it pays all motivational incentives to staff on time, as stipulated in the HR manual.
  4. NILEPET also pays clothing allowance to its staff. This policy is also a motivational undertaking, and three times a year, April 30th, August 31st and December 31st, NILEPET pays clothing allowance to all staff without delay.
  5. During the first tenure of Dr. Chol, all NILEPET staff were covered by medical insurance. When Eng. Bol came in, more staff were added to NILEPET payroll in a very short time and this affected the insurance premiums, which NILEPET was unable to pay. As a result, Eng. Bol discontinued the insurance policy for all NILEPET staff and all medical insurance policies were canceled.
  6. Currently, the administration of Dr. Chol in collaboration with the Board of Directors is working hard to make sure all staff are covered by medical insurance. However, due to debts inherited from the previous administration, NILEPET is paying outstanding Cash Call to the operating companies to keep the oil production

going, with the hope that the production increases. Once the production increases, which means more money, the Board of Directors and the administration will decide on the medical insurance issue because it’s a priority for NILEPET.

  1. On the issue of salary increment, it’s fake news that the Board of Directors approved salary increment. The Board of Directors and the Managing Director, struggle every day to pay the outstanding Cash Call balance and other debts. The Board of Directors cannot approve salary increment without money.
  2. Reforms are subject to institutional policies. All the hardworking NILEPET staff and members of the management are assigned and promoted on meritocracy.

Finally, NILEPET reiterates its commitment to the welfare of its staff and the national wellbeing of our economy. We urge the public to pay less attention to the negative campaigns and fake propaganda against NILEPET and assure the public that NILEPET will take appropriate legal action against these saboteurs.

Best Regards,

Department of Public Relations,

Nile Petroleum Corporation (NILEPET)
