Sudan keen to boost economic ties with Ethiopia

February 29, 2008 (Addis Ababa) — Sudan has attached due attention for strengthening commercial and investment relations with Ethiopia, ENA reports ,Sudanese ambassador to Ethiopia as saying.

Speaking at the occasion of Sudan day, organized in connection with the 12th Addis Chamber International Trade Fair, the Ambassador, Mohieldin Salim, said the immense participation of Sudanese companies in the Trade Fair “is a testimony to the importance we attached to our commercial and investment relations with Ethiopia.”

He said there are so many Sudanese companies seeking business opportunities in Ethiopia.
The embassy of Sudan in Ethiopia has been receiving, on daily basis, Ethiopian businessmen aspirating to conduct business in the Sudan.

The political leaderships of the two countries have taken it upon themselves to further strengthen the bilateral, relationship particularly in the fields of economic and commercial as the driving force for their plans to forge strategic relations between the two countries.

The two countries have managed to achieve so many successes, like Fiber Optics interconnection, the inauguration of the continental road between the two countries, and the conclusion of Petroleum and power purchase agreements, just to mention a few.

The occasion was organized by Giad Automotive Co. Ltd, a big Sudanese company seeking permanent presence in Ethiopia, sponsored by Sudan Embassy in Ethiopia
Some 22 Sudanese exhibitors have taken part in the trade fair engaged in several sectors.

Representative of Sudanese companies taking part in the trade fair for his part said “This is not the first time for Sudan to participate in trade fair in Ethiopia and it will not be the last, because we like to create strong trade relation with Ethiopia.”
