Sudan’s Slava Kiir holds talks with Uganda’s Museveni on LRA
March 7, 2008 (Entebbe) — The Sudanese First Vice President and President of Southern Sudan Government held talks with the Ugandan President on the expected signing of peace agreement with Ugandan rebels brokered by his government.
The rebel Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) demands that the Ugandan government intervenes to withdraw ICC arrest warrants against its chief Joseph Kony and other leaders. But Uganda has no authority to request suspension of arrest warrants according to the Rome Statue, even if Kampala withdraws its ratification.
Salva Kiir Mayadrit during a one-day visit to Uganda discussed with Yoweri Museveni the ongoing peace mediation in Juba and what guarantees can be done to reassure the LRA. Speaking to the press besides the host president, he reiterated that a peace deal would be signed by the end of March between the Ugandan parties.
Nonetheless the Museveni told the reporters after talks with the visiting Sudanese vice-president that their meeting was focussed on the economic interests including transport and communication to facilitate trade between southern Sudan and Uganda.
Some hundreds of SPLM supporters in Uganda welcomed Salva Kiir following his arrival at Entebbe airport.

mis understanding is great why do Kiir go back to SS before dealing with the issues of LRA from disturbing SS people.so is this what we hope about protection if such areas are not improve for the safety of SS people.
so what is the opinion of kirr about those LRA if such problems are not slove to ensure that SS people are safe,Mr president Kirr,if those people (attacker)were from mulre nor bor please let us know otherwise its open for everyone to understand

I wish you had the courage to tell your true name. I assume you are a murle. Please do not mix local issues with International ones. President Kiir is aware of the right of his people, that is why he is urging the Ugandan parties to come to Juba by the end of March to sign the last peace deal with LRA then the LAR must, disarm, demobilize and get out of South Sudan. Then if they refused it will be the time to clear them out. We know at one point the NCP was using them. Let us just be patient with the LRA. Mr. Chinese, we are not yet sophisticated to read Chinese use English. please

The Recent visit to uganda by HE LT Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit to uganda will probably play a very important role concerning the lord resistence army and their activities in south sudan and the democratic republic of congo,since there are some obstacles in the peace talk between uganda and the rebels who have refused to sign the last protocol that would deliver peace to the people of uganda annd specially those who ar affected for the last 20 years in northern uganda we hope that talk who actually change the situation in both countries.his visit was highly welcome when he also met the sudanese student in various universties and informed them about the current issues affecting the goverment of southern sudan.he was welcome by sudanese students union leaders who presnt to him a key.as a sign of devolopment and the achivement made in the last two years.
