EU delegation announces its new ambassador to Sudan
August 31, 2022 (KHARTOUM) – The delegation of the European Union (EU) has announced the appointment of Aidan O’Hara, it’s new Ambassador to Sudan.
O’Hara, the EU said in a statement, will lead its Sudan mission, developing political, economic relations and programming development assistance.
“He will coordinate these policies with the Ambassadors of the European Union Member States, promoting European common interests and values in Sudan,” noted the statement.
O’Hara reportedly has 36 years of experience as an Irish and European diplomat and has served in France, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Ethiopia in Djibouti, where he was also accredited to the Inter-Governmental Authority for Development (IGAD).
The diplomat also worked in the Irish Foreign Ministry as Head of Policy Planning and in the European, press, protocol as well as economic promotion divisions of the ministry.
Meanwhile, the new envoy is expected in Sudan within the first week of September.
