September 14, 2022 (KHARTOUM) – The Third Front Movement, Tamazig, on Wednesday voiced anger and accused the Sudanese government of reneging on its commitment to integrate its fighters into the army and other regular agencies.

Tamazuj is one of the signatories to the Juba peace agreement signed in October 2020. The group was not known before joining the agreement. Also, there are accusations that it was an intelligence creation made up of Sudanese army militias.

In statements to Sudan Tribune, the Third Front Secretary-General, Yasir Mohamed Hassan, accused the government of violating the peace agreement and stressed the need to fulfill its obligations.

“The government did not implement any of the signed agreements in 2020 especially the security arrangements chapter, despite our repeated appeals to implement it,”  Hassan said.

Also, he said that military authorities ignored the movement’s leaders and did not improve their conditions.

In line with the power-sharing chapter, the government gave the former rebel groups ministerial positions. Also, they received funds for their fighters.

However, the government did not implement the costly security arrangement calling for international financial support to enforce it.

Tamazuj secretary general further spoke about growing boredom among their combatants deployed along the border strip as their self-resources had run out.

He further warned of serious consequences if this situation continued.

He said there was boredom among their troops deployed in the border strip after their own resources ran out and warned of serious consequences if the situation continued.

“We can’t predict what’s next after our forces have spent all the resources they have,” he said.

Last August, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo “Hemetti” Deputy Chairman of the Sovereign Council, accused Tamazuj of involvement in the bloody tribal clashes that took place in West Darfur state and announced the arrest of all its leaders in the state.
