Sudan launches training of security forces in El-Fasher State
September 25, 2022 (KHARTOUM) – The first training of security forces to protect civilians in Darfur commenced in North Darfur State capital, El Fasher on Monday.
Brig. Gen. Ahmed Yahya Gedo, a Joint Higher Military Committee for Security Arrangements member, said the three weeks course is part of the committee’s training plan.
He said 1,704 trainees, including 125 officers, will benefit from the training in Dar Al-Arqam.
The training of this force, SUNA reported, would be attended by leaders from the Joint Higher Military Committee for Security Arrangements, the Darfur track, officials from the government of North Darfur state, specialized training centers, the African Center for Governance and Democratic Transition, in coordination with the Nimeiri Military Academy, the United Nations concerned organisations concerned, the Red Cross and the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS).
