Sudan Turkey to cooperate on animal production

March 22, 2008 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan and Turkey signed today a protocol on joint cooperation between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The agreement was related to the animal production.

The protocol, which comes in the context of reactivation of the cooperation agreement signed between the two countries in the areas of fishery, wildlife, animal production and exchange of expertise in the production of vaccines and training of researchers in the field of animal diseases.

Addressing the signing cermoney, the minister of Science and Technology Ibrahim Ahmed Omar, described cooperation with turkey as an important alternative for Sudan’s cooperation with friendly countries and sister to break the unjust embargo imposed on it by some Western countries.

He pointed out that Sudan with its vast resources is capable of effectively contributing to facing the food shortage problem threatening the world.

The Chairman of the Turkish delegation said their visit to Sudan enabled them to identify areas of cooperation between the two countries in the field of animal health and production.

He further added that animal diseases that afflict or threaten animals know no boundaries, which makes it imperative for all cooperation in the production of vaccines and serums.
