Upper Nile’s Governor visits the Shuluk King

March 24, 2008 (MALAKAL) — Upper Nile’s Governor, Gatluak Deng, paid an important visit to the Royal King of Shuluk, Rath Kongo Dak Padit on Saturday March 22.
In his meeting Maj. Gen Gatluak told the King that he came to seek his blessing because he feels that His Highness is the father of all Upper Nile’s children. Therefore, no one in this state can claim to be of an authority higher than the Rath.
Ambassador, Riek Puok Riek Governor’s Executive Director, said the meeting was very frankly and the Rath has given his blessings, after performance of traditional rituals, to the Governor and affirmed his support to the new administration of the state.
The Rath called on the Governor to exert extra efforts in developing the state. At the end of the meeting the Governor called on all Upper Nile people to unite and become the only tribe name the Upper Nile tribe.
