Arman calls on Sudanese to take part in planned anti-coup protests

October 19, 2022 (KOSTI) – Yasir Arman, leader of the SPLM-N Democratic Revolutionary Current (DRC) called on Sudanese to take part in anti-coup protests scheduled for October 21 and 25

The neighbourhoods Resistance Committees plan to hold rallies on October 25, the first anniversary of the military coup carried out by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan against the civilian transitional government.

“We call on the Sudanese to take to the street on October 21 and 25 to bring down the military coup,” said Arman at a public meeting held Tuesday evening in Kosti of the White Nile state.

Arman recently said that the mobilization of the Sudanese street behind the pro-democracy forces is crucial for the restoration of the civilian government.

The leading member of the Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) called for the implementation of the security arrangements, adding that the continued presence of eight armies in Sudan could lead to the disintegration of the country.

The FFC in its political vision for the restoration of the civilian transitional government called to establish a timetable for the integration of the armed groups and militiamen into the national army and to review its economic activities.

The DRC leader called on Sudanese women to join the army and, denied claims that his hostility to the military establishment.

Also, he said that the former regime wants to rule the country again on the shoulders of the armed forces.

“But that will not happen,” he said.

Arman further proposed the formation of a broad civil front for all revolutionary forces to run in the elections to defeat the former regime.
