Ethiopia winds-up election campaign

April 10, 2008 (ADDIS ABABA) — The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) today announces that contesting individual candidates and political parties taking part in the upcoming local and national by elections will wrap up their election campaign on Thursday.

NEBE Office Head, Tesfaye Mengesha said that the election campaign being conducted by contestant political parties and individual candidates on various media outlets and forums would be concluded before Thursday mid night.

Distribution of election materials is well underway to 42,000 polling stations across the country, Tesfaye indicated.

According to the official, voters have now enough knowledge which party to go to.

Polling station in all parts of the country has also finalized preparation for the smooth conduct of the election, he added.

Some 32 political parties, 4.5 million candidates and over 26 million voters will take part on the coming local and by election to kick off on April 13.
