December 12, 2022 (KHARTOUM) – The  Forces for Freedom and Change coalition received 60 applications to joing a framework agreement paving the way for the handover of power to civilians.

On December 5, the army and RSF chiefs signed a framework agreement with the FFC components and other political forces, under which the military will take part in the governance and political affairs after reaching a final agreement.

National Umma Party (NUP) Secretary General and FFC leading figure, Alwathiq Alberair, revealed to Sudan Tribune on Monday that they have received “60 applications to join the framework agreement, which will be considered by the FFC Executive Office tomorrow.”

He pointed out that they want to expand the base of political participation and not exclude any party.

However, that does not mean “flooding the political process with forces that do not support democratic transition and do not achieve the goals of the framework agreement and the revolution,” he stressed.

The most prominent force willing to join the draft transitional constitution is the “Centre Movement”, which is headed by Youssif al-Kouda, al-Bereir said.

On Sunday, Mubarak al-Fadil, head of the Umma Party, a NUP splinter faction, announced their desire to sign the framework agreement.

Al-Bereir said that the FCC Executive Office will hold a meeting on Tuesday to consider requests for joining the deal, and approve a plan to hold workshops and conferences to discuss the sticky issues that have been postponed to the final agreement.

The outstanding issues that the political forces and the military leaders have to discuss before signing a final agreement are justice and transitional justice, , security reform, review of the Juba peace agreement, dismantlement of the former regime, and eastern Sudan issue.
