SSUF/A condemns “renewed” attacks in Western Equatoria

December 13, 2022 (YAMBIO) – South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) has accused the army (SSPDF) of attacking its positions in Western Equatoria State.

“The renewed counterattacks flared up on the 10 of December at 5pm Juba local time on Dore SSUF/A military forward base under the command of Major General Thon Chiluel Mathou in Tambura county, Western Equatoria State,” said Col. The Philip Deng Kuol Nguot, SSUF/A’s military spokesperson.

He, however, said they resisted the “unprovoked” offensives by the SSPDF forces.

Meanwhile, the group said during the fight that lasted for 35 minutes, “SSUF/A invincible forces loyal to Gen. Paul Malong Awan pushed away the then attacking government forces and remain in control of the entire territorial ground”.

“Also in the same process, SSUF/A gallant forces killed 3 SSPDF soldiers, recovered over 8 rifles, 35 tents and 2 cartridge boxes in a good condition,” said Nguot.

SSUF/A condemned the attacks on its bases, calling on the ceasefire monitoring body (CTSAMVM) to investigate actions of the SSPDF.

The group vowed to respect the ceasefire inked in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2017.
